Description
1880 Antique Brunswick Billiards Rosewood 9’ Monarch Pool Table. Condition is "Used". Just acquired and getting a little shop time prior to delivering to a lucky customer somewhere in America. This is an extremely rare 9’ Monarch in Brazilian Rosewood. Most monarchs were 8 footers and the rare 9 footers were usually ebony or rosewood. Rosewood from Brazil is either extinct or protected. This is the most spectacular rosewood I have ever seen in 35 years in this restoration business. Enlarge some of the pics and see for yourself. I will add some other Monarch pics for comparison later. This is the 8th Monarch I have owned. Most people have never even seen one. All original and all the veneer is book matched with corresponding sides. Pics don’t do justice but when it gets a new finish and rosewood rail caps it will be stunning. 4 piece slate in excellent condition. Has interesting history that I can’t reveal or verify completely but it has been around since right after the Civil War. That is a hint. Came from the Cleveland area about 1960. Prior to that it had a checkered past. I will post a picture of what the final loon will be and I encourage questions. I will personally deliver and supervise installation anywhere in the country. Ready for new home by end of Summer. Probably my last delivery before retirement. You may see Monarchs for less money but they are not in the same league as a 9’ Brazilian Rosewood book matched table. Not for everyone but the right guy or gal is waiting for this table to come along. Sold one exactly like it in 1995 for k. That table was reputed to have belonged to Al Capone. There is a fabulous cue rack for this table also. Will post in separate auction when ready. Thanks for looking. Port City Auctions of Duluth, Mn.
