ON SALE FOR A LIMITED TIME - SAVE $$ Extremely rare original Press photo from the John Carpenter film Assault on Precinct 13.
This is the rarest press / publicity / Press Kit photo from any John Carpenter film. I have collected John Carpenter items for over 35 years.
This 8x10 is a ORIGINAL Press kit photo for Assault on Precinct 13 that comes from the MMG archives. It has their Certificate of Authenticity which as the barcode number on the COA which matches the barcode on the back of the photo and comes in the MMG archives presentation folder (this assures you that this is not a reproduction but a original photo from 1977 used by the Chicago Tribune newspaper at that time).
I have never seen this photo (from original printing) publicly offered before like this which can be documented to a specific date and use by a newspaper (which includes a cut out of the newspaper's use of the photo on the back of the very photo!) I had to get it out of the Chicago Tribune Archives so there is no doubt it is original and not a cheap reproduction from recent years.
This is a PRESS USED PHOTO to promote the film, by the Chicago Tribune Newspaper, for movie theaters upon original release in 1977 in the Chicago movie theater market. So it has expected wear all over the photo from press use during the newspaper printing process. MMG Archives handled the archiving of the Chicago Tribune Newspaper photos. This is one of those photos.
Photo has newspaper /media wear on the front with creasing throughout and markings for printing (on the left side of the photo) and faded smear wear from handling on the photo itself near the top on both left and right sides. (seen in the auction photos). Would still display nicely in a frame or an archival photo binder.
Back of photo features printed handwritten words "Movie strip Sat 3/5 . Has the actual clipping of the photo from the newspaper glued to the back of the photo (It is stamped "Mar 5 1977" and states " An R-rated action packed thriller is at the United Artists Theater"
Underneath the actual clipping from the newspaper is a information sheet which was also glued to the back of the photo which interestingly has part of the film plot wrong - it states "The action-packed thriller Assault on Precinct 13 Opens Friday March 4 at the United Artists Theater Downtown. This R-Rated movie is about a battle between police and a gang that wants to save one of it's one members from prison."
Back of photo has additional newspaper print markings on it (as seen in the auction photos)
Assault on Precinct 13 was made by John Carpenter right before he made the Halloween movie starring the famous character Michael Myers.
Don't miss out on such a key piece of John Carpenter movie photo history.
