Vintage Hand Turned & Carved / Hand Painted / Wood and Bone Chess Set

This is charming vintage complete chess set from an estate, the origin and/or history is unknown. The chessmen are quite ornate and feel good in the hand. They are hand turned with fine detail carving. They are also embellished with what I believe are carved bone tops. They all seem to be in very good to excellent condition, they also look nicely aged with a glowing patina. The folding wood board/case is in okay condition, it has some dings, scratches and splits as seen in the pictures. There are a couple of nails that popped through on the inside that were likely there from the maker.  The board measures 13 3/8" x 13 3/8" x 1 1/2" (open).
